I Want to Start Yet Another New Chamber

Almost a year ago now I started a Tumblr, with the idea that it would serve as a sort of promotional vehicle for my fledgling career amongst the genre-fiction literati.

I had an inkling that there was (relatively) big news on the horizon (my first short-fiction sale), and wanted to, you know, ‘expand my vertical into new wheelhouses to ensure that my synergy and back-end points are leveraged for maximum exposure on the new media frontier’. And stuff.

Then I realized something: I just don’t get Tumblr.

Maybe my life is lacking in funny cat videos to make gif’s of. Or anything at all to make gif’s of.

So once again, I’m inaugurating some dumb website, once again there’s (relatively) big news which has yet to be confirmed, and once again I’m here to *cough* um, synergy? *cough cough* Uh…wheelhouse? Like, really–I sprung for a domain name and errythang. Why? ‘Cause I am a baller like that.

In the meantime, watch this again:

My first foray into speculative fiction is now available for your reading pleasure.

Be forewarned of some proofreading mishaps, there are some real howlers in there. All in all though, I’d say it’s a fairly competent piece of commercial genre fiction, if by no means earthshaking. What I mean to say is: Hell, it’s a start.

Me, profiled

Ahead of the upcoming publication of a little science-fantasy story of mine, the nice folks at NewMyths.com have seen fit to publish my answers to the questionnaire which they sent me along with my contract. I suppose I was somewhat giddy at the time I responded, because I come off sounding like a bit of a dork. But whatever. If you’re curious, you can read it here:

I believe the word is “W00t!”

In my first publication here I mentioned something about smelling big news in the air. I’m happy to announce that I am not mistaken.

Today—one year, three months, six days and exactly 67 rejections after my first serious submission to a fiction market—I received my first acceptance email.

In what one hopes would be a first of many to come, it seems I have succeeded in placing a vaguely Golden Age-y Science Fantasy short story with a semi-pro website.

More details soon to come…

The release date of Young Nickels the Great’s ‘I Was Young’ has been pushed back again.

It was confirmed today that the release of the hotly-awaited ep has been delayed. According to MTV.com, the date had to be pushed back to allow for some last minute changes.

The predecessor to this album, ‘Travelin’ Music (Bustin’ Ya Ass Style)’ was released in 2008 and featured artists such as SisQo, Tha Great Gatsby and Alan Thicke. The additional artists on this new album have not yet been announced.

Not the big news I was smelling in the previous post but pretty big. Young Nickels the Great comes back to put the world on smash. Wreckanize, fools etc., etc.

“I want to create a new chamber.”

So I’ve done Friendster, myspace, Facebook, and Twitter. I’ve started and abandoned not one but two blogs.

If I’m starting a Tumblr then, there had better be a good reason.

Unlike my previous exploits in the world of social media, which were actually more or less concerned with, like, connecting with people and expressing myself, the sole purpose for this space’s existence is as a vehicle for self-promotion.

All of which is to say that I have a sneaking feeling that big things are afoot. Or not. Time will tell. In the meantime, how awesome is this:
